Movie Review: THE CALL

THE CALL

“Surprisingly Riveting!”

A fast-paced and exciting chase picture, "The Call" was a deceptively thrilling movie! From the advertising I suspected this might be a cheesy cash-grab throwing Halle Berry in nonsensical situations to spout badass lines. Instead I got a well-acted, gripping story about a woman breaking through her own psychological firewalls to help save another from a lunatics demented rampage. Then the picture delivers an impromptu fake-out leading to an oddly satisfying ending.

The Call is a 2013 American thriller film directed by Brad Anderson and written by Richard D'Ovidio. When a veteran 911 operator takes a life-altering call from a teenage girl who has just been abducted, she realizes that she must confront a killer from her past in order to save the girl's life.

The film stars Abigail Breslin as Casey, a teenage girl who is kidnapped by a serial killer, and Halle Berry as Jordan, the 9-1-1 operator who receives her call. Morris Chestnut, Michael Eklund, Michael Imperioli, and David Otunga also star.

Unexpectedly, this was a really good film and I'd recommend it to anyone!
